Durant la seva infantesa havia fet desembosc amb el seu pare, sobretot a la vall d&#8217;Olzinelles, a Catalunya, i a collir aglans amb la seva mare. Posteriorment va estudiar ecologia, geografia i ci\u00e8ncies ambientals.
